CLEARING is a quarterly, non-profit publication for K-12 and non-formal educators in the field of natural resources, environmental, and place-based education. It had its origins in the Pacific Northwest, but now circulates to educators across North America.

South Slough NERR is a 4,771 acre natural area on Oregon's South Coast, created in 1974 as the first of 26 National Estuarine Research Reserves dedicated to research, education and coastal stewardship.

Workshop for Teachers:

Marine Ecology and Conservation on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, July 29th - August 3rd, 2007. Port Townsend Marine Science Center offers a week-long course on marine ecology and conservation. Instruction takes place on the beach, in the lab and on board the Adventuress Schooner on the Olympic Peninsula, Washington. Teachers take home standards based-activities for K-12 classrooms on marine biology, physical oceanography, basic navigation, tide & currents, marine mammals and sand studies. Credits available, fees apply.
