Post Conference Workshop—Shoreline Science

Discounted price for NAME members attending the Bandon Workshop

Description: 45627_10152144722818327_202536847_nWe have a special opportunity for NAME members this summer.  We have planned an intensive, three-day workshop on coastal science and natural history, led by coastal ecologist, Stewart Schultz and CoastWatch volunteer coordinator, Fawn Custer.

The workshop will cover everything from tidepools and sandy beaches, to estuarine and ocean ecosystems, to marine mammals and birds. Each session will include field trips, indoor presentations and laboratory experiences (with some variation, depending on the weather).

The workshop is open to the public, but the primary focus will be on providing CoastWatchers with training in many aspects of coastal ecology relevant to monitoring the shoreline. Matters of concern such as marine debris, invasive species, microplastics, and sea star wasting syndrome will also be discussed.
