NAME or the Northwest Aquatic and Marine Educators was founded in 1975  as an effort to bring

together environmental educators around the world of  salty and fresh, and to share lessons,

information, experiences and enjoy the beauty of the natural world we teach about. The Northwest

Aquatic and Marine Educators (NAME) is a “family” of educators passionate about oceans and

watersheds. We believe in the magic of the world of water and its ability to facilitate learning. NAME

is a chapter of the National Marine Educators Association(NMEA),a non-profit organization that brings

together those interested in the study and enjoyment of the world of water. Affiliated with the

National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), NMEA includes educators from pre-K through 12

classrooms, universities, aquariums, science centers, marine reserves and laboratories, businesses,

agencies, and more!

Our membership includes teachers, infomal science educators, environmental educators, and

students from many different locations throughout the Pacific Northwest. You can become a

member of NAME and also join the National Marine Education Association at the same time.
